Deathwatch Kill Team

This is my Deathwatch Kill Team. I made the unit from all of my favourite vet sgt and character models. When i put the unit together i did not have a dremel so the shoulder pads are usually done by grenstuff moulding, which is why some of them are not to great. I have been really bored lateley with painting and playing, and i realised that i have only been painting with a deadline in mind, usually a tournament, which means that my painting has been really rushed. So with these guys i took my time and just painted them as well as i could. I took an average of 1.5 hours for each of their faces and about an hour on each of the coloured blades.

The bases are a combination of gravel, snow and static grass to compensate for the dark colouraton of the armour.

I should have a rhino and a Land Speeder Tempest done soon as well.

This guy is a Dark Angel based of the Azrael model. I cut off both his arms and smoothed out a flat surface for the new arms. I used the arms from the new chaos heavy bolter for the left arm and the handle, and an old arm for right. The heavy bolter is from the marine scout, and as i had already used the handle arms for my scouts. I sculpted the tubing for the join between arm and hand, and added the shoulder pads. I really like how the cloak, face and green of the shoulder pad turned out, i spent ages on the cloak and am happy with the result.

This is the Blood Angel, based on the old BA vet sgt, i am getting a proper shoulder pad soon, and will red the pad, this one is only blutacked on. I had to cut of the left arm with the chainsword, and used the heavy bolter arms from the chaos boyz as i did for the DA guy. I am really happy with the gems (mostly blooddrops) esp the one on his chest plate, i think the glow came out really well. I am also happy with his face and hair.

The Space wolf. The symbol is not the best as the mold was a bit thick but the colour around it is quite good. His face is my favourite of the whole unit, i mixed up some beige brown, some beige and some basic fleshtone (all vallejo) for the base, and then used a grey to highlight up, to give him a weathered old look. I am also pleased with the axe as i think i got the cold look quite well.

This is my Librarian from my own personal chapter, The Doomfarers. He is based off the torso of the white scar captain, with the legs of an assault marine. The cloak is imho fantastic and the best red i have ever done. The blade was started with Dark Angel Green and highlight up with snot green all the way up to Vallejo fluro green to represent his force sword.

This is the Flesh tearer, i painted him about six months before the rest and i think it shows, he is definately the worst painted of the lot. In saying that he was the basis of the style for the rest of the unit. I very much like the effect on the blade, which is from the fantasy ork sprue.

This is the Iron Hand, nbased off the Iron Warriors lord. I carved of the chaos symbols on his chest and shoulder pad, and i think there was one on his head. I added the fist symbol to his shoulderpad and the Adeptus Mechanicus symbol to his chest. I shortened the chaos vent on his back pack and only used the skull. The axe is from the BA honour guard techmarine. I am really happy with the metal effect on the whole figure and also the way the red came out, the axe has a very cool glow which you can't see in this photo :)

The scythe of the Emperor. i changed the axe to the zombie scythe head. The scythe head came out really well with a weathered bone look that makes me wish that i had used a tyranid claw :) the free hand symbl turned out well ( i have done about 60 of them for a friends army so i have had practice) and his flesh is quite cool.

The Black templar. Probably my favourite figure. the red, the metal, the copper and especially the face all turned out really really well, and comes together great. The symbl was moulded from the BT shoulder pad and fits well onto the shoulder pad.

The Salamander. I had to cut Marneus's left shoulder pad off and thankfully this is an old lead model so it was quite soft as i did not have the dremel yet and did it with a craft knife. I also covered the UM symbols on his leather tassles to look like normal metal tips. The cloak turned out well and makes him stnad out, but the real gem is the symbol and the flame on the sword, they have a fantasic glow which i am really happy with.

Another of my favourites, the Fire Hawk. This was supposed to be the most simple guy so he could die first but he turned out too well. The figure is just an old LOTD figure with the helmet cut off and the Deathwatch head attached. The flames were done properly with the bright colour towards the bottom, i used valejo red and vermillion and then just added yellow further and further down. Its the same technique i used form the salamander (as i did it at the same time). The combination of that and the bone make him just stand out really well imho.

The Ultramarine, based off the very cool emperors champion model.
I took off his shoouler pads, and added in teh deathwatch and an ultramarine one i got somewhere, and gave him the bolter. The showed was painted to look a bit like flowing lava, and i made sure his cloak was a very vibrant blue, to set off the black of his armour. He is not based yet, but will be done the same as the others.
