The Wordbearers "Wordwing"

In an effort to use the new termies as something, but not imperial, and wanting to convert them i decided to do a wordbearers termie army. I decided to do the daemons as entirely plastic conversions, just to make it interesting.

You will see the shoulder pads on the termies, i scultped and cast them myself, as a) there is no chaos termy shoulder pad, or a decent wordbearer shoulder pad. all of the trophy racks are from the chaos vehicle accessory sprue. all of the rims of the termy armour were sculpted to look like the metal termies and i used a lot of chaos warrior bits. i used some of the new P3 paints for the red, very nice.

The army is only able to go to one tournament, Komplete Fanatic in Melbourne. and of course the army will be obsolete very soon, so the model will be shelved until the daemon codex comes out as well.

How did it do?

Well i won all 5 of my games, i got the 5th highest sports score, got the highest painting score, and battlepoints, and won Machina Opus (highest comp and painting), Solarian Medal (battlepoints plus comp), 2nd players choice and 1st overall, for the 2nd year in a row.

Gorloth - Chaos Lord

I wanted the general to stand out, so i bulked out the model by adding plasticard to the sides of the torso, lengthening the legs, and the greaves. He is about a head taller than the others.

The knee pads are from the maruader sprue. the banners from the dire avenger exarch. the skull is from the chaos warriors and the horns were cut off a chaos warrior champion helmet. the book he is carrying is from the plague monks box, and the crozius is made from two chaos icons (again from the chaos warrior box), carefully crafted together, and the sword- well i can;t remember. the arm is a thunder hammer arm,

Gorloths retinue

Misericord - the Eater of Angels - Chaos termy with reaper autocannon and chainfist.

He is festooned with skulls from the chaos warrior box, and the wings are from the new dark angels. the reaper autocannon has kroot rifles for barrells, and the drum mag is from the guard autocannon. his banner is from the beast men box.

Jatak the blowtorch - termy with bolter melta and lightning claw

He has a marine combi bolter, and his chain mail is cut from a chaos marine, and the incense bearer is from the dark angels.

Trulog the Oath Taker - termy with combi bolter and lightning claw

Combi bolter is from the chaos vehicle, head from the wood elf box, the various penants etc are from the marines and chaos marine boxes.

Kain the Pious - termy with Combi bolter and power weapon

the various penants are from the plague monks, and the horns are from the chaos warriors box as is the weapon.

Kharnak the Bringer of Hate - termy champ with power weapon and combi bolter and daemonic strength

Weapon head is from the beastmen box and the arm is from thunder hammers. banner poles are from the chaos accessory sprue, and the helmet is the chaos warrior champ head, and the book is from the Dark angel box.

Calth the Unrestrained - termy with reaper autocannon and chainfist and icon.

the censor and banner is from the plaguemonks, i scored grooves in the armour and extended the cannon arm, and used modelling chain for the torso.

Abraxus the unrepentant - termy with reaper autocannon and powerfist

the sheild is from the dark angels.

Yokai voice of chaos, termy with reaper autocannon and lightning claw.

the chaos arrows are icons cut down and then bent so i could glue them around the armour.

Yethel the Silent - termy with combi bolter and lightning claw

small purity seals from all over the place, the large ones are from the dark angels, the skin is from the kroot box, and head is a wood elf.

Shedim - the bone collector - termy with combi bolter and lightning claw

the skulls are from the ork fantasy chariot, ork warrior box, skeleton box and genestealer box. with the skin bag from the kroot.

Haight - the Skinner - termy with power weapon and combi bolter

weapon is from beastmen box, and the hooks are from the maruder flails.

Skuld - blood soaked - termy with power weapon and combi bolter

the tabard is a cutdown black templar power armour torso, and the head is a berseker head as is the axe.

Hagen Steeldog - Thrice Cursed - Termy with combi bolter and power weapon

the sword is a chaos marine one and the chain mail is cut from a chaos marine champion torso.

Bloodletters of Khorne

these were made by cutting the legs off beastmen, and also chaos warriors. the beastmen legs were added to the torso, and lot of greenstuff was used to blend it in and add fur. the arms and head are beastmen, and the axe head is from the old chaos waririors halberd box. the straps on the axes are greenstuff.

Daemonettes of Slaanesh

These were made from ungor models, with the chaos mutation sprue arm and head added. i cut the spear off the right hand and added a chaos marine knife. soem greenstuff around the neck hid the head join.

Plaguebearers of Nurgle

made from plaguemonks with scythes for weapons, i did use some normal skaven weapon arms, especially for double handed pose. the heads had additional greenstuff added aroudn the neck to make it look like more of a full hood, rather than the head cap it normally does

Flamers of Tzeentch

No conversions, except for adding the occasional extra piece to them, or reversing an arm.

Furies of Chaos

Made from Gors with metal furie wings added to the back, greenstuff was used to hide the gaps. the wings are the only metal in the army.

Daemonettes on Steed

these are made from wood elf horses with the saddle cut back, gor torsos added to the horse body (the gors i cut the legs off). beastmen weapon and mutation sprue for head, left arm and tail. the base is the magnetic bike base from Gale force nine.

Objectives

we needed some objectives for the compeition so here are mine;

Main objective, the start of a chaos temple

Chaos sign, to represent redeploy or infiltrate

Chaos flags, to represent when we take objectives. were designed to look like daemons coming out of the warp

this little hottie was for disruption

this was for advnaced intel, repesenting a chaos minion showing plans from the warp. the book was from the ravenwing box and the bearer is a plaguemonk.
